The weekend of October 4 and 5, the Board held its annual in-person meeting in Washington, DC. They stayed at the Grand Hyatt, the conference hotel, and met in the conference venue, the MLK, Jr. Library. Both places are excellent choices for our final conference. The board members also visited two restaurants being considered to cater our final banquet. One was Rumi’s Kitchen and the other Joon. Brad Hansen and Skip Auld, our conference coordinators, will be following up with both. Those evening meals also provided us with an opportunity to visit with Anne Baker and Glen Blumhorst and learn more about the Museum of the Peace Corps Experience and the RPCV Legacy Plaza.

Each of us has an opportunity to be part of the Legacy Plaza by purchasing a brick on which we can have our names, years of service and sites inscribed. There are various sizes available. Iran has been in the news recently and there are interesting programs being held around the country. You might want to check out the Farhang Foundation where you can view The Loneliest Revolution.
Don’t forget the 4th Monday PCIA Discussion Group on October 28th at 8 pm Eastern. Also look for the Advocacy Bulletin, which provides insight on the current situation and links to informed articles. Also the next Dooreh will be on November 13th at 8 pm Eastern. We will be discussing Genna Wangsness’s history of Peace Corps Iran, LAND BETWEEN TWO WATERS.
