Doug Schermer
PCIA Webmaster (Semnan, Shahrud, 1966-67)
Doug served in the OMRAN rural development program in Semnan province in Semnan, Damghan, and Shahrud (1966-1967) where he worked on bath houses, schools, water supply systems, etc. After Peace Corps service, Doug began his career in education as an elementary teacher in such places as Chicago and Berlin before returning to Iowa. He served as an elementary school principal for 19 years finishing his career as Superintendent of Schools in Wayland, Iowa. A founding member of the Peace Corps Iran Association, Doug was PCIA treasurer until early 2019.
