In Times of Crisis There Is Also Opportunity. Carpe Diem

The inauguration of a new President in Iran, especially one who ran on a platform of improving relations with the West, including the United States and negotiating a deal to constrain Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for reducing economic sanctions, should have been welcomed in Washington. Instead Masoud Pezeshkian’s election and inauguration were given a cold shoulder by the Biden Administration. This was a huge opportunity lost, an opportunity to start massaging the relationship between our two countries to find ways to communicate, negotiate and agree on ways to make the greater Middle East a more peaceful and prosperous place for all.
