Yeganeh Torbati, Iran/Turkey Correspondent, Washington Post
Yeganeh Torbati, a Yale graduate who double-majored in political science and modern Middle East studies, is a correspondent covering Iran and Turkey for The Washington Post, which she joined in 2020. In prior roles at ProPublica and Reuters, she covered federal agencies, including the State Department, USAID, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Pentagon. She also covered Iran for Reuters, and with colleagues there she uncovered the $95 billion financial empire controlled by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. She is currently co-writing a book about Iran’s modern history, to be published by Doubleday and Viking Books UK.
