December 2024 From the Field
As the holiday season arrives, we send wishes for a joyous season to all. If you are fortunate enough to live where there is a significant Iranian population look for public Yalda celebrations. The celebration of the longest night of the year usually includes singing, dancing, storytelling, a table filled with special symbols, and of course food. While many cultures celebrate the winter solstice, the Yalda celebrations I have attended have been some of the best. Whatever other holidays we celebrate, we can all take joy from the return of the light after the darkest night.
