2026 Dooreh-ye Ketaab Book Selection and Discussion Dates
All Doorehs are held in odd-numbered months, on the second Wednesday, at 5:00pm Pacific (8:00pm Eastern). A Zoom link will be emailed to you close to the meeting date. If you have never attended a Dooreh, please send email to [email protected] to ask for the link. If you have attended previously, we have you in the list, you’re good.

Below is the list of three books chosen by members of the Dooreh-ye Ketab to be read in 2026. Each of the three authors has agreed to participate in the discussion of his/her book. The Dooreh takes place on the second Wednesday of every other month, beginning in January, and is open to anyone who is interested. We meet at 5 pm PST/8 pm EST. No additional obligations implied. May 13 will be the last Dooreh. Members who wish to continue gathering must begin organizing by June 30, as no member information, publicity assistance, zoom, etc. will be available after that.
January 14. The Evin Prison Bakers’ Club: Surviving Iran’s Most Notorious Prisons in 16 Recipes, by Sepideh Gholian. 2025. NOTE UNUSUAL TIME: 8am Pacific Standard Time We will be joined by Maziar Bahari who is in London because the author is in prison in Tehran.
March 11. King of Kings: The Unmaking of the Modern Middle East, by Scott Anderson. 2025. Scott Anderson will join us.
